Meeting Amy Atlas!
Hi everyone, guess what I was up to this past Sunday? Oh I was just in Beverly Hills getting my Sweet Designs book signed by the person who has been my ultimate inspiration in sweet styling!
Amy Atlas is considered THE Sweets Stylist by many who enjoy dessert tables or sweets tables (whatever you like to call them) and if you have ever planned, designed, or styled a sweets table then I’m almost sure you have come across her award winning blog for some sweet inspiration.
As some of you who follow me on Facebook know, I was so excited when I found out that Amy and Lisa featured my submission for the dessert table I styled for Minted and Vintage.
I just couldn’t imagine when I would get the opportunity to meet the Sweets Stylist guru herself being that we live on opposite coasts! When I found out she was writing a book, I thought perfect! Book tour coming up! and I must admit, I was relieved that my city was one of the lucky stops on her tour.
Amy’s Book, Sweets Designs, Bake It, Craft It, Style It, is full of styling tips and recipes that are sure to give your sweets table the Amy Atlas touch!

The Los Angeles stop of the tour was at Williams Sonoma in Beverly Hills. She set up her Picnic in the Park table (page 69 of her book) using Williams Sonoma products. She served refreshing Red Zinger Iced Tea with Watermelon Wedges (recipe found in pg. 79 of her book) and we also got to try her yummy Strawberry Trifle (recipe also found in her book).
So here we all are,

I brought my little shortcake along (yes she’s digging for gold and doesn’t like the camera much :/)
The icing on my (inspirational women) cake was meeting Mindy Weiss! Yes, I said that right renowned celebrity event planner extraordinaire Mindy Weiss! I want to be her when I grow up! Look at her, she is so sweet, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to introduce myself (and Minted and Vintage of course!).
Here I am with Marie Danettelle from Sweets Indeed. She does amazing work that has been featured on Hostess with the Mostess and Amy Atlas. You might recognize her by her signature Whimsical Big Top Circus Party and The Royal Sweet Shop Princess Party. She is really going places, it was such a delight to have met her and her lovely intern Hope.
Last but definitely not least, I met Lisa Hauptman, Amy’s Commander in Sweets. We’ve communicated before via email when they featured my styled dessert table on Amy’s Sweet Designs blog. So it was such a treat to be able to finally meet her in person! I’m so bummed that I didn’t get to take a picture with her though.
Amy’s got one last stop on her book tour Saturday July 14th at the Williams Sonoma in Hotlanta, Georgia. For those of you in Atlanta, be sure to stop by, get your copy, and meet her, she is truly as sweet as her Sweet Designs book!

Jealous to the nth degree!!! What a fabulous night… ps. love your blazer..and paired with the bright lipstick:)
Thanks so much Laurel 🙂 I must admit I got lucky meeting some of the best ladies in the industry!
